They play guitar, design clothing, volunteer at food pantries and perform improv comedy. They recognize the sacrifices made by their parents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meet the recent graduates from Milwaukee high schools who were <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/undergrad-admission\/scholarships-aid\/diversity-tech-education\/nadella-scholars\/\">awarded full-ride Nadella Scholarships to 51ÁÔÆæ<\/a> to study computer science, data science and information technology. Their 10 scholarships are being funded through a gift from 51ÁÔÆæ alumnus and Microsoft Chairman and CEO Satya Nadella (\u201990 MS Computer Science) and his wife, Anu Nadella.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Eight of the Nadella Scholarship recipients intend to major in computer science. One intends to major in information science and technology and another in information technology management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt feels good for someone to invest in my future and give me a chance to better my life,\u201d wrote Latrelle Jackson, Rufus King International High School. \u201cIt lets me know that I am doing right and that I should keep working.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>About the Nadella Scholarships<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is the second cohort to receive Nadella Scholarships, which are specifically for students who graduate from Milwaukee high schools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The scholarships provide financial and academic support, and cover tuition, fees, room and board for up to five years at 51ÁÔÆæ. Each recipient is assigned a dedicated success coach, an academic advisor, and a peer mentor, and is provided additional tutoring and support opportunities to lead to successful student outcomes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tmj4.com\/news\/local-news\/microsoft-ceo-satya-nadella-paying-it-forward-at-uw-milwaukee\">A June 7 TMJ4 story spotlighted how Nadella Scholarships are helping 51ÁÔÆæ students from marginalized communities prepare for high-tech careers<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>They are proud to be heading to college and setting examples for younger siblings.
