{"id":12297,"date":"2022-05-19T11:13:09","date_gmt":"2022-05-19T16:13:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/engineering\/?p=12297"},"modified":"2022-10-06T11:45:30","modified_gmt":"2022-10-06T16:45:30","slug":"foundry-education-foundation-awards-record-number-of-scholarships-to-uwm-students","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/engineering\/foundry-education-foundation-awards-record-number-of-scholarships-to-uwm-students\/","title":{"rendered":"Foundry Education Foundation awards record number of scholarships to 51ÁÔÆæ students"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A record 17 51ÁÔÆæ students received scholarships from the Foundry Education Foundation (FEF) this semester.&nbsp;\u201cThe foundry industry needs innovative minds to create materials that advance sustainability, health and medicine, aircraft, and space exploration,\u201d says Pradeep Rohatgi, 51ÁÔÆæ distinguished professor, materials science &amp; engineering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Congratulations to the following students, who are studying diverse fields at 51ÁÔÆæ including architecture, biomedical engineering, computer science, materials engineering and mechanical engineering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Ross Abrams<\/li><li>Telemachos Agoudemos<\/li><li>Cameron Ahles<\/li><li>Swaroop Behera<\/li><li>Masum Bellah<\/li><li>Owen Bellevage<\/li><li>Omid Ghaderi<\/li><li>Rosalba Huerta<\/li><li>Pradnya Narvekar<\/li><li>Luke Osvatic<\/li><li>Kaustubh Rane<\/li><li>Kaveri Salunke<\/li><li>Mason Steffe<\/li><li>James Veltri<\/li><li>Shreya Wadekar<\/li><li>Tien Wong<\/li><li>Pablo Zertuche Flores <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>FEF\u2019s support helps 51ÁÔÆæ students secure internships and jobs<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOne of the great pleasures has been to get over $200,000 in FEF scholarships to 51ÁÔÆæ students over the years, and to help them find jobs in Wisconsin and across the nation,\u201d says Rohatgi, who has served as the university\u2019s FEF key professor since 1996.&nbsp;<br><br>These jobs have been with foundries \u2013 including Waupaca, Kohler Industrial Castings, Signicast, Grede, Badger Alloys, Spuncast, Stainless Foundry\u2014and companies &#8212; including General Motors, Tesla, GE Aviation, Intel, Boeing, Oshkosh,and Lockheed Martin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>FEF certifies 51ÁÔÆæ\u2019s Foundry Education Program. Scholarships are one way that the foundation supports students who want to master metallurgy and pursue careers in the foundry industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>FEF also helps students find jobs in the foundry industry and supports the Foundry Lab at 51ÁÔÆæ.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Most students receive scholarships starting their freshmen year and continue to receive them until they graduate.
