The DIG program supports high-quality, innovative, early-stage basic or applied research or creative projects that have the potential for later submission at three times the award value through external funding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/officeofresearch\/internal-grant-program-awardees\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Among the 12 51ÁÔÆæ faculty selected for funding were<\/a>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"alignleft uwm-c-img--left\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" src=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/engineering\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/537\/2021\/02\/Mahsa-Dabagh-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Mahsa Dabagh\" class=\"wp-image-5101\" \/><figcaption>Mahsa Dabagh<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"alignright uwm-c-img--right\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" src=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/engineering\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/537\/2021\/02\/Yin-Wang-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"faculty member yin wang\" class=\"wp-image-5151\" \/><figcaption>Yin Wang<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Mahsa Dabagh, assistant professor, biomedical engineering, was awarded a grant for her project \u201cRole of mechanotransduction within wound tissue to characterize and design advanced dressings for non-healing wounds.\u201d Her co-investigator on this project is Sandeep Gopalakrishnan, assistant professor in the College of Nursing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yin Wang, Lawrence E. Sivak \u201971 associate professor, civil &amp; environmental engineering, was awarded a grant for his project \u201cElucidating the Role of Dissolved Organic Matter in Regulating the Sorption of Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) by Engineered Adsorbents.\u201d His co-investigators on this project are Laodong Guo, professor, School of Freshwater Sciences; and Shangping Xu, associate professor, Department of Geosciences.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Two College of Engineering &amp; Applied Science faculty members recently received Discovery and Innovation Grants (DIG) from 51ÁÔÆæ\u2019s Office of Research.
