Smart Devices<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Explore how computing works at the smallest scales.<ul><li>Smart sensors and devices<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Nano-enabled technologies<\/li><\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Energy-aware and connected systems<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--header\">Computer Science Research Centers and Labs<\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel\"><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel-inner uwm-u-clear\">\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/csi\/\">Connected Systems Institute<\/a> (CSI) accelerates innovation by bringing together industry and academic researcher to facilitate digital transformation for small and medium-sized manufacturers, ultimately developing an educational curriculum to better prepare the workforce of the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The focus of the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/sites.uwm.edu\/dsail\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory<\/a>&nbsp;(DSAIL), led by Susan McRoy, is to develop computational approaches that combine human expertise with data-analytic models to solve complex problems, such as improving health outcomes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/sites.uwm.edu\/bigdata\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Big Data Analytics and Visualization Lab<\/a>, led by Zeyun Yu, is focused on developments of new computational approaches and software tools for various types of massive data processing, data mining and visualization using both knowledge-based and data-driven techniques.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As an R1 research institution, research is integral to our work at 51ÁÔÆæ and to the experience of students pursuing graduate degrees.
