Data Analytics<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Enabling data-driven decisions, rapid simulation, predictive maintenance, digital twins, and faster materials discovery\u2014shifting engineering from traditional models to intelligent, efficient systems.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--header\">Mechanical Engineering Research Centers and Labs<\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel\"><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel-inner uwm-u-clear\">\n<div class=\"content_block\" id=\"custom_post_widget-27741\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The team at the <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.uwm.edu\/sees\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Center for Sustainable Electrical Energy Systems (SEES)<\/a>, led by Rob Cuzner, are exploring methods to make electric power systems more sustainable, cost-effective, and secure through research on energy storage, microgrid systems, and renewable energy sources.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/csi\/\">Connected Systems Institute<\/a> (CSI), led by Joe Hamann, accelerates innovation by bringing together industry and academic researcher to facilitate digital transformation for small and medium-sized manufacturers, ultimately developing an educational curriculum to better prepare the workforce of the future.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In the <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.uwm.edu\/jciqu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Energy Storage Research Laboratory<\/a>, led by Deyang Qu, the&nbsp;focus is on fundamental electrochemical research, seeking new materials and understanding reaction mechanisms in the areas of renewable energy, sensor and water treatment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The mission of <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.uwm.edu\/grapes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">GRid-connected Advanced Power Electrical Systems (GRAPES)<\/a>, led by Rob Cuzner, is to accelerate the adoption and insertion of power electronics into the grid in order to improve system stability, flexibility, robustness, and economy.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.uwm.edu\/ceas-iac\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Industrial Training and Assessment Center (ITAC)<\/a>, led by Ryo Amano, is a Department of Energy program dedicated to helping small and medium-sized manufacturers and wastewater treatment plants minimize their energy costs through efficient use of resources<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/engineering\/students\/current\/resources\/uwm-machine-shop\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Machine Shop<\/a>, led by Michael Brown, is a hands-on facility with state-of-the-art manual and computer-assisted equipment and machine tools used by faculty, students, and members of industry.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The mission of the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/sites.uwm.edu\/mobilitylab\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Movement Analysis for Biomedical Innovation &amp; Technology (Mobility) Laboratory<\/a>, led by Brooke Slavens, is to advance quantitative rehabilitation research for improving health and function of persons with disabilities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.uwm.edu\/bike-motorcycle-lab\/\">Bicycle and Motorcycle Engineering Research Laboratory<\/a>,<strong> <\/strong>led by Andrew Dressel<strong>, <\/strong>helps manufacturers around the world to make their two and three-wheeled vehicles safer and more efficient. They offer students the opportunity to collaborate with manufacturers in designing and building test equipment, collecting and analyzing data, formulating mathematical models, and building prototypes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>As an R1 research institution, research is integral to our work at 51ÁÔÆæ and to the experience of students pursuing graduate degrees.
