Here are some of our research focus areas:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Biomaterials<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Biomechanics<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Biorobotics<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cell and Tissue Engineering<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Computational Biomedicine<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Digital Health<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Intelligent Assistive Devices<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Medical Imaging<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Medical Instrumentation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Rehabilitation Engineering<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--header\">Biomedical Engineering Research Centers and Labs<\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel\"><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel-inner uwm-u-clear\">\n<div class=\"content_block\" id=\"custom_post_widget-27702\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.uwm.edu\/ambl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Advanced Mobility Biomechanics Lab<\/a> at UW-Milwaukee, led by Jacob Rammer, develops and applies connected health technology to study mobility of people with disabilities and outcomes of clinical rehabilitation, with particular attention to underserved communities globally.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.uwm.edu\/bigdata\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Big Data Analytics and Visualization Lab<\/a>, led by Zeyun Yu, is focused on developments of new computational approaches and software tools for various types of massive data processing, data mining and visualization using both knowledge-based and data-driven techniques.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.uwm.edu\/biorobotics-lab\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Biorobotics Lab<\/a>, led by Mohammad Habibur Rahman, focuses on the design, development, and control of wearable robots that can rehabilitate and assist physically disabled individuals whose upper and lower extremities are impaired. These wearable robots are designed for the individual to use to rehabilitate and, ultimately, be able to leave the wearable robot behind.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The focus of the <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.uwm.edu\/dsail\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory<\/a> (DSAIL), led by Susan McRoy, is to develop computational approaches that combine human expertise with data-analytic models to solve complex problems, such as improving health outcomes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In the <a href=\"http:\/\/sites.uwm.edu\/dabaghlab\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Mechanobiology and Vascular Biomechanics Lab<\/a>, led by Mahsa Dabagh, graduate and undergraduate students use biology, mathematics, mechanics, biomaterials, and fluid dynamics to answer key questions about human diseases. We develop innovative prevention and treatment plans for cancer and cardiovascular diseases, which are tightly interconnected.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The mission of the <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.uwm.edu\/mobilitylab\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Movement Analysis for Biomedical Innovation &amp; Technology (Mobility) Laboratory<\/a>, led by Brooke Slavens, is to advance quantitative rehabilitation research for improving health and function of persons with disabilities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.uwm.edu\/premnathlab\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Bone Lab<\/a>, led by Priya Premnath, is comprised of engineers, chemists, and biologists aiming to create innovative solutions in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>As an R1 research institution, research is integral to our work at 51ÁÔÆæ and to the experience of students pursuing graduate degrees. Undergraduate students can reach out to the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/our\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">51ÁÔÆæ Office of Undergraduate Research<\/a> regarding research opportunities, or contact individual faculty directly.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--header\">Poster Competition &amp; Three Minute Thesis<\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel\"><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel-inner uwm-u-clear\">\n<p>Graduate and undergraduate students have the opportunity to participate in the annual&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/engineering\/research\/student-research-poster-competition\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Poster Competition &amp; Three Minute Thesis<\/a>, a signature event for our college.
