SUMMARY:Hula & Polynesian Culture Workshop Series
DESCRIPTION:Hula & Polynesian Culture Workshop Series \nJoin the Electa Quinney Institute for American Indian Education for a weekly cultural immersion experience led by Artist-In-Residence Malia Chow from Nā Hale Studios and special guests. This engaging workshop series invites participants to explore the rich traditions of hula and oli (chant)\, learn halau protocols\, and reflect on Hawaiian values such as aloha\, kuleana\, and pono. \nWorkshops will take place every Wednesday from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM\, beginning January\, in Merrill Hall – Room 142 at 51���� (2512 E. Hartford Ave\, Milwaukee\, WI 53211). Light refreshments will be provided. \nOpen to 51���� students\, faculty\, staff\, and community members\, this series fosters meaningful connections between Polynesian lifeways and participants’ own cultural traditions and wellness practices.

DESCRIPTION:Fire Circle Soup gatherings invite our community to come together around the EQI Fire Circle to prepare and share soups made from locally sourced or locally grown Indigenous foods. These gatherings create space for connection to land\, food traditions\, and one another through shared meals\, conversation\, and hands-on cultural activities. \nJoin us throughout the season for a series of themed Fire Circle Soups\, each featuring a special activity or offering alongside a nourishing meal. \nUpcoming Sessions Include: \n\nMedicine Pouch Making\nWednesday\, March 11th | 3:00–6:00 PM\nSoup will be served 4:00 PM\, followed by Medicine Pouch making with Artist‑in‑Residence Rachel Jyske from 6:00–7:00 PM.\nApril Soup Gathering\nWednesday\, April 1st | 11:00 AM–2:00 PM\nSoup will be served around 12:00 PM.\nFilm Screening\nTuesday\, April 14th | 2:00–5:00 PM\nSoup begins at 3:00 PM with a film screening of Kanenon:we – Original Seeds to follow.\nCoffee & Corn Mush\nMonday\, May 4th | 12:00–3:00 PM\nEnjoy Oneida Corn Mush from 1:00–2:00 PM\, with soup served around 12:00 PM.\n\nHosted by the Electa Quinney Institute for American Indian Education and the American Indian Student Center. \nIf you’d like to co-host a future Fire Circle Soup\, reach out to Breann at clark449@uwm.edu.
