(6 credits)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Forward-counted courses taken during the undergraduate career must be taken at the graduate (G) level to count forward toward the graduate career. Two of the following three courses should be taken at the graduate level:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>EXCEDUC 532G \u2013 3 cr<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>EXCEDUC 601G \u2013 3 cr<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>EXCEDUC 679G \u2013 3 cr<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-backward-shared-credit-course-list-13-credits\">Backward Shared Credit Course List \u2013 (13 Credits)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Backward-counted courses taken during the graduate career that count backward toward the undergraduate career:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>EXCEDUC 488G \u2013 1 cr<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>EXCEDUC 574G \u2013 3 cr<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>EXCEDUC 588G \u2013 9 cr<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Students who elect to earn a bachelor\u2019s degree in Exceptional Education without teacher certification in special education may take any of the following courses for the 13 backward-counting credits in their graduate career:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>AD LDSP 598<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>AD LDSP 861<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>EXCEDUC 560<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>EXCEDUC 561<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>EXCEDUC 699<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>EXCEDUC 703<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>EXCEDUC 705<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>EXCEDUC 707<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>SOC WRK 774<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>SOC WRK 775<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>All of the above courses (<strong>19 credits<\/strong>) fulfill specific requirements for the Bachelor\u2019s Degree in&nbsp;Exceptional Education.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div id=\"tab-v4kg-admission\" class=\"uwm-p-tabcontent--pane\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-admission-criteria\">Admission Criteria<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The following items must be met prior to applying for formal admission to the undergraduate Bachelor\u2019s Degree in Exceptional Education and teacher certification program in special education:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>At least 45 credits with a GPA of 2.5;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Grade of \u201cC\u201d or better in MATH 175 (or equivalent) and ENGLISH 102 (or equivalent);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Grade of \u201cC\u201d or better in CURRINS 300 (Intro to Teaching) and a positive field evaluation or equivalent (e.g., recommendation from instructor).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Students indicate their intent to apply to the accelerated graduate degree program after their second semester of professional coursework in the undergraduate Bachelor\u2019s Degree in Exceptional Education and teacher certification program in special education. This allows them to be eligible to take graduate level courses during their undergraduate career in the third semester of professional coursework, and students must meet the following criteria:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Meet the minimum GPA requirements for admission to the Graduate School at the time of enrollment in graduate level U\/G or G coursework.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A minimum GPA of 3.0 on all work in the professional program.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Declare their intent to apply for an accelerated graduate degree program.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Complete service and\/or undergraduate research in special education or a related field.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Write and submit a two page (approximately) personal statement that explains: the student&#8217;s interest in a particular field of study, an appropriate faculty mentor tied to their interests and reasons for desiring to enter the accelerated graduate degree program.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Submit two letters of recommendation from professionals who can speak to the applicant\u2019s analytical thinking, intellectual curiosity and ability to manage an increased workload.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Receive a positive recommendation from the teacher certification program faculty, following an interview with the faculty.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Complete the same academic work and follow the same performance standards as graduate students in the Exceptional Education master\u2019s program.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Approved enrollment into graduate level coursework during an undergraduate career does not guarantee admission to graduate school as part of the accelerated graduate degree program. Per usual 51ÁÔÆæ Graduate School criteria, students must obtain a \u201cB\u201d or better in all courses taken at the graduate level that are to be counted toward a master\u2019s degree.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>See the Sample Program of Study section under the Curriculum tab for the five year sample plan of study using the proposed shared credit counted courses for the accelerated
