The professional sequence, taken after all\/most of the liberal arts required courses are taken, is a cohort program that begins a two-year course sequence each fall semester.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-u-flex uwm-u-flex--wrap uwm-u-flex--left\">\n<a class=\"uwm-c-button uwm-c-button--outline uwm-u-mr-20 uwm-u-mb-20\" href=\"https:\/\/catalog.uwm.edu\/community-engagement-professions\/education\/teaching-learning\/exceptional-education-k4-12-bs\/#requirementstext\" rel=\"\">View Requirements<\/a>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-post-baccalaureate-2nd-degree-program-pathways\">Post-Baccalaureate\/2nd Degree Program Pathways<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The post-baccalaureate program is a cohort program that is two years for those entering without certification and one year for those entering with prior teaching certification in another area. Students include those earning K4-12 certification in regular education who remain at 51ÁÔÆæ for a fifth year to earn dual certification, certified teachers returning to add on a special education certification, and those beginning new careers. Career changers have the option of working as a paraprofessional and then teaching under a permit while earning certification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-master-s-degree-option\">Master\u2019s Degree Option<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You have the option of combining the certification program with a master\u2019s degree, taking up to 18 credits of your certification program at the graduate level. The remaining credits, including an action research project, can be completed after certification. Your advisor will help you determine the best time in your program apply to the graduate school.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div id=\"tab-4qeo-admission\" class=\"uwm-p-tabcontent--pane\"><div class=\"content_block\" id=\"custom_post_widget-10747\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-uwm-admission\">51ÁÔÆæ Admission<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"uwm-c-table \"><table><tbody><tr><td><strong>Undergraduate Admission<\/strong><\/td><td>To be considered for admission to 51ÁÔÆæ, you must meet all <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/undergrad-admission\/\">51ÁÔÆæ admissions requirements<\/a> and complete the Universities of Wisconsin Application.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>Post-Baccalaureate Certification <\/strong><\/td><td>The School of Education post-baccalaureate certification programs lead to teaching certification and licensure. Generally, students apply to the professional sequence in the final semester of their sophomore year. Application to the professional sequence does not guarantee admission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have not officially completed all coursework required to apply at the time of application but will do so before the beginning of the fall semester, we encourage you to submit a program application.
