The Department benefited greatly from the Niho Research Excellence<\/strong> Fund <\/strong>in 2023-2024. Established and generously funded by Professor Emeritus Yoshio Niho<\/a>, it promotes Departmental research allowing expenditures and trips that would otherwise be impossible. We deeply thank Yoshio and all who have contributed. Here\u2019s what happened last year:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Scott Adams<\/strong> \u2014 A former PhD student (and current professor) was able to return to 51ÁÔÆæ for a week. We did joint research involving three different manuscripts. This was extremely valuable for my research and for my former student\u2019s success. Many thanks to the Niho Fund!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Itziar Lazkano <\/strong>\u2014 I presented research, attended seminars and met with leaders in my field at the annual meeting of the United States Association of Energy Economics. The Niho Fund provided this outstanding opportunity to remain active and grow my research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Matthew McGinty <\/strong>\u2014 The Niho Fund allowed my co-author to visit so that we could pursue joint research on several papers. While here, he met with 51ÁÔÆæ colleagues and shared his own research in a departmental seminar. Such interaction raises our department\u2019s research profile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

James Peoples <\/strong>\u2014 The Fund allowed me to purchase a new computer which improved my research ability. The enhanced computing power and communication ability will pay dividends in the months ahead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kevin Thom <\/strong>\u2014 The fund generously allowed updating my computer infrastructure so that I can continue the intensive applications needed by my research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jangsu Yoon<\/strong> \u2014 I was able to make several journal submissions, purchase journal subscriptions and pay the conference fee for the Southern Economic Association Conference in DC. A great help!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
