Furthermore, it aims to analyze the main racial cut-off institutions created under the initiative of the Executive Power, namely the Palmares Cultural Foundation in 1988, and the Secretary for Policies for the Promotion of Racial Equality (Seppir) in 2003.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Geosciences Colloquium: The State of Milwaukee\u2019s Rivers \u2013 the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n 4 pm – 5 pm, Lapham Hall, Room N103<\/p>\n\n\n\n Presented by Cheryl Nenn, Riverkeeper at Milwaukee Riverkeeper. As Riverkeeper, Cheryl identifies sources of pollution to Milwaukee\u2019s rivers, actively patrols the rivers for issues of concern, and looks for collaborative solutions to these problems. Cheryl also manages our citizen-based water quality monitoring project, the Milwaukee Urban Water Trail, and various restoration and stormwater demonstration projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Warhol + Tavel \/ Tavel + Warhol<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n 7 pm – 9:30 pm, Union Cinema<\/p>\n\n\n\n Two collaborations between Andy Warhol and Theatre of the Ridiculous playwright Ronald Tavel, who, for both films here, wrote the scenarios and plays the on-screen director. In The Life of Juanita Castro<\/em> (66min., 1965), Tavel coaxes performances for an adaptation of a Life magazine article by Fidel Castro\u2019s sister titled \u201cMy Brother Is a Tyrant, and He Must Go.\u201d With filmmaker Marie Menken as Juanita Castro. In Screen Test #2<\/em> (66min., 1965), Tavel taunts drag superstar Mario Montez as they audition for the part of Esmeralda in a would-be production of The Hunchback of Notre Dame.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 16mm prints courtesy of the Circulating Film Library of the Museum of Modern Art.<\/p>\n\n\n\n FRIDAY, JANUARY 31<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Diverse Ideas: Victoria Ibiwoye<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Victoria Ibiwoye, Founder and Director of OneAfricanChild Foundation for Creative Learning, Youth Representative to the SDG-Education 2030 Steering Committee, will talk about addressing inequality in education, and the need for quality and inclusive education for all. Victoria has spoken at the United Nations, was named as 100 Most Influential Young Africans by the African Youth Awards in 2017 and 2018, was named as a Mandela Washington Fellow in 2019, and was the recipient of the Princess Diana Legacy Award for her contribution to education and youth development. Join us for an insightful discussion around inclusive education, calling on governments to enforce the right to education in national laws, and to learn more about Victoria\u2019s contributions to inclusive and quality education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
