{"id":3084,"date":"2024-10-17T15:54:00","date_gmt":"2024-10-17T20:54:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/csi\/?post_type=research_post_type&#038;p=3084"},"modified":"2024-10-28T10:59:04","modified_gmt":"2024-10-28T15:59:04","slug":"using-predictive-modeling-to-predict-failures-in-supply-chain","status":"publish","type":"research_post_type","link":"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/csi\/research\/research-projects\/using-predictive-modeling-to-predict-failures-in-supply-chain\/","title":{"rendered":"Using Predictive Modeling to Predict Failures in Supply Chain"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-target-objective\">Target Objective<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Implementing manufacturing traceability solutions would allow firms to improve data accuracy, reduce human error, increase customer service levels, and save money in lost revenues, recall costs, litigation and fines.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It would also allow firms to prevent quality issues before they occur.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Our focus in this study will be on process control, specifically on predicting failures within processes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-project-detail\">Project Detail<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>We would like to provide a Markov Decision Process based framework for increasing process reliability and identifying replacement times for components and products before failures.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To illustrate, we aim to implement our model on the We Energies data set related to identifying failing meters in an electrical distribution system.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To achieve our goals, we will utilize prescriptive, predictive, and descriptive analytics.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-target-outcomes\">Target Outcomes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Increase equipment and process reliability with prescriptive maintenance;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Minimize the total operational cost for the company given the set of constraints to be satisfied;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provide dynamic and optimal recommendations and develop a decision support system that can achieve \u201cwhat-if\u201d analysis.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Build a system that allows real time remote monitoring, asset location and status.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Publish research papers in top operations management journals and develop whitepapers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:40px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"CSI Kuzu Soyer Model 3 4 2021\" width=\"1400\" height=\"788\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/OlMlWy5RLR8?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"author":1287,"featured_media":84,"parent":0,"template":"","class_list":["post-3084","research_post_type","type-research_post_type","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v27.3 (Yoast SEO v27.3) -
