Communication is studied as a process occurring within relational contexts (e.g., families, workplaces, cultures) and (re)creating meanings about lived experiences (e.g., what does it mean to be a family member, employee, leader, citizen). Faculty in this area have expertise in quantitative and qualitative social science methods.
