Additional fees may be added based on course and activity selection.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Living expenses:<\/strong>\u202f<a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/about-milwaukee\/\">Milwaukee<\/a>\u202fappeals to many international students because the city has a low cost of living compared to coastal U.S. cities. Here you get the best of both worlds \u2013 a thriving urban center combined with an affordable, friendly, small-town atmosphere. The\u202festimated\u202fliving expenses (which will vary depending on your accommodation and food arrangements) for one academic year are about $15,000.<strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>International Student Health Insurance:<\/strong> All international students are required to have <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/cie\/services\/students\/health-insurance-medical-records\/\">health insurance<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Time to complete a degree:\u202f<\/strong>In general, new students who have high English proficiency and make successful progress can expect to complete their degree:&nbsp;\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Bachelor\u2019s degree \u2013 4 years&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Master\u2019s degree \u2013 2-3 years&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>PhD \u2013 5+ years&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Proof of Funding for the I-20: <\/strong>View more specific information about our <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/cie\/services\/students\/proof-of-funding\/\">proof of funding requirements<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"scholarship\">Scholarships for Undergraduate Students<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>51ÁÔÆæ has a\u00a0scholarship program\u00a0for newly admitted international undergraduate degree-seeking students. Scholarship award decisions are based on academic merit. Undergraduate students\u00a0are considered for this scholarship\u00a0upon admission; no separate application is required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The scholarship awards may be up to $6,000 per academic year ($3,000 per semester) and may be renewed each year (for a maximum of four years total).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Scholarships for international students are awarded on a monthly basis. Newly admitted students will be notified of their awards as soon as decisions are made, and scholarships are awarded until all money is fully allocated. To ensure full consideration for an award, students should be admitted by May 1 for the fall intake, and by October 1 for the spring intake. Note: Only students admitted to a bachelor\u2019s degree program at 51ÁÔÆæ will be considered for this scholarship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We also strongly encourage all admitted international students to explore the <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.academicworks.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">51ÁÔÆæ Scholarship Portal<\/a> and apply for any other scholarships they believe they meet the eligibility requirements for. Students will need their ePantherID to sign into the portal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Funding Opportunities for Graduate Students<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Graduate students have the opportunity for tuition remission via assistantships: teaching assistants, project assistants, program assistants and research assistants, and other funding opportunities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Funding for graduate students is awarded directly from the academic program.
