The lab currentlyconsists of a Bruker Avance Neo 400 MHz and a Bruker Avance III HD 500 MHz spectrometer. Also several workstations are available for data processing and analysis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The facility serves about 50 graduate and undergraduate students from the departments of Chemistry and Biochemistry, Biological Sciences and Mechanical Engineering. It also supports the organic teaching labs, exposing students to state of the art analytical instrumentation early on. In addition, several local companies have access to the analytic capabilities of the lab on a per fee basis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Bruker Avance III HD\u2122 500 MHz spectrometer was installed in October 2017. The system has a 54 mm bore Bruker Ascend\u2122 superconducting magnet operating at a field of 11.744 Tesla. The console provides two all digital RF channels and digital lock, 100W power for 1H\/19F, 500W for X-nuclei and a GRASP II gradient unit for pulsed z-gradients. A Temperature control unit with BCU II chiller allows variable temperature operation down to -40C.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The instrument is equipped with a Prodigy\u2122 5mm X-nuclei optimized Cryo probe with z-gradients and Automatic Tune and Match (ATM), allowing observation of 1H\/19F, 31P-15N and a temperature range of -40\u00b0C \u2013 +80\u00b0C. Additionally, a Broadband Smart\u2122 Probe with z-gradient and ATM is available, allowing observation of ^1 H, ^19 F,^31 P-^109 Ag.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 400 MHz Spectrometer was installed in August 2024. The instrument has a shielded 9.3 Tesla Bruker Ascend Evo\u2122 superconducting magnet. It is utilized by teaching labs and research groups for 1D proton and carbon experiments. It is also capable of most homo and heteronuclear gradient supported 2D experiments (COSY, HSQC, HMBC) which can be performed on a routine basis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The instrument is equipped with a broadband I-probe\u2122 with two channels tunable to 1H\/19F,31P-109Ag, allowing most common nuclei to be observed. With a BCU-I chiller the sample temperature can be regulated down to 0\u00b0C. An additional liquid nitrogen evaporator allows operation with sample temperatures down to -100\u00b0C.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The instruments are currently used for structure determination of natural products, drug design and biological systems. The instrument provides the highest sensitivity for a multitude of one- and two-dimensional experiments (DEPT, APT, COSY, NOESY HSQC, HMBC) and with automatic tune and match capability is the instrument of choice for heteronuclear NMR experiments like 19F, 13C, 15N, 31P and 113Cd. The instrument is also capable of non linear acquisition and carbon-carbon correlation experiments like ADEQUATE. A 24 slot SampleCase\u2122 sample changer in both instruments allows for continuous operation of multiple samples.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-fee-schedule\">Fee
