It is only by taking care of ourselves \u2013 and each other \u2013 that we can fulfill our mission of educating students, conducting life-changing research and serving the community around us.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"490\" src=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/chancellor\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/687\/2025\/02\/Winter_Welcome_logo-1-1024x490.png\" alt=\"Winter Welcome logo\" class=\"wp-image-1046\" srcset=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/chancellor\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/687\/2025\/02\/Winter_Welcome_logo-1-1024x490.png 1024w, https:\/\/uwm.edu\/chancellor\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/687\/2025\/02\/Winter_Welcome_logo-1-300x144.png 300w, https:\/\/uwm.edu\/chancellor\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/687\/2025\/02\/Winter_Welcome_logo-1-768x367.png 768w, https:\/\/uwm.edu\/chancellor\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/687\/2025\/02\/Winter_Welcome_logo-1.png 1409w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to many\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/t.e2ma.net\/click\/3nnufi\/f5ga5db\/z8s5yp\">Winter Welcome<\/a>\u00a0events for students, this semester offers plenty of ways for you to stay engaged with your colleagues and our campus.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>On Jan. 30, we\u2019ll celebrate\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/t.e2ma.net\/click\/3nnufi\/f5ga5db\/f1t5yp\">10 years of M-Cubed<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 51ÁÔÆæ\u2019s partnership with MPS and MATC that opens doors to higher education for local students.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Join me on Feb. 13 for a faculty\/staff reception entitled\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/t.e2ma.net\/click\/3nnufi\/f5ga5db\/vtu5yp\">Thankful Thursdays<\/a>, where I will share my gratitude for all you do to make 51ÁÔÆæ thrive.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Later on Feb. 13, I will host a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/t.e2ma.net\/click\/3nnufi\/f5ga5db\/bmv5yp\">Chancellor Chat<\/a>\u00a0program with Dr. Aamir Siddiqi, director of Student Health and Well-being, to talk about well-being and all the ways we can support each other.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Then on Valentine\u2019s Day, Feb. 14, our 51ÁÔÆæ Alumni Association will host a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/t.e2ma.net\/click\/3nnufi\/f5ga5db\/rew5yp\">homecoming bash<\/a>\u00a0before our Men\u2019s Basketball team takes on Wright State.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>We find ourselves in a season of change, and change can bring anxiety. In light of that, I urge you to focus on enhancing the culture of care we have created \u2013 for our students, colleagues and the community. That means taking the time to ask how someone is doing. Gather with colleagues to celebrate a milestone. And carve out time for yourself when you need to recharge.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Look for more communication in the next few weeks on how each of us can make a difference in student success and contribute to a culture in which colleagues support each other. You\u2019ll also receive more information about our budget strategies in the weeks ahead.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thank you for all you do to make our campus hum, and our students succeed.
