51ÁÔÆæ Chancellor Mark Mone and other 51ÁÔÆæ leaders met with five students organized by Students for a Democratic Society for 40 minutes at the Student Union’s Fireside Lounge on Monday, Feb. 26.
During the meeting, the campus leaders listened to the student organization’s concerns.
Separately, SDS held a rally outside the meeting location, one of several protests SDS has held on campus this academic year. 51ÁÔÆæ has a responsibility to allow free speech on our campus.
51ÁÔÆæ encourages open, respectful dialogue about complex and intensely emotional issues, and we are deeply committed to being an open and welcoming institution that respects everyone’s right to free speech. The peaceful way these opinions were expressed is an example of 51ÁÔÆæ’s commitment to upholding these values while fostering a community where diverse perspectives are heard and respected.
