Melissa Scanlan, director of the Center for Water Policy, spoke with Vernon Oaks, host of radio program Everything Co-Op about her upcoming book
The book compares Spanish and U.S. cooperatives to reveal insights about legal design for the triple bottom line. The U.S. State Department awarded Scanlan a Fulbright Senior Scholar position in Spain in 2019 to pursue research about Spanish co-ops that are sustainability leaders.
The book, which will be released in September 2021, provides a legal blueprint for creating alternate corporate business models that mitigate climate change, pay living wages, and act as responsible community members.
Everything Co-op is a nationally broadcast weekly radio program that explores the impact and potential of the cooperative business model to solve community problems and encourage collaboration.

Over the years 51ÁÔÆæ Today has hosted a wide array of scientists and researchers from 51ÁÔÆæâ€™s School of Freshwater Sciences. It’s the only school of its kind in the United States, and the work it is doing to better understand and preserve our freshwater resources is invaluable.
