\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"<\/div><\/div>\n \n <\/div>\n<\/div>\nCampus Planning oversees Sustainable, Resilient, and Inclusive Design of new buildings, remodeling existing buildings, and open space.\u00a0 We lead these efforts towards a more sustainable environment today and for future generations. We use a holistic approach by evaluating multiple measures for applicability to capital projects as they are relevant to varying project needs and missions.\u00a0 The Wisconsin Division of Facilities Development & Management (DFDM) Sustainability Guidelines<\/a> are based on the American Institute of Architect\u2019s (AIA) Framework for Design Excellence<\/a> and adapted for use on DFDM projects to align with the Governor’s Executive Order #38 to \u201cDevelop energy efficiency, sustainability and renewable energy guidelines for all new and existing state facilities, office buildings, and complexes.\u201d\u00a0 The guidelines were initiated in 2004 and established in 2006.\u00a0 The current Sustainability Guidelines were adopted in 2020, adding resilient and inclusive measures to the sustainability guidelines.\u00a0 Prior DFDM sustainability guidelines aligned with LEED Silver.<\/p>\n

Sustainable, Resilient, and Inclusive Design includes<\/strong> –<\/h3>\n

Integration<\/strong>: good design delivers beauty and function in balance. It brings together the principles with a big idea.<\/p>\n

Community<\/strong>: design for equitable communities positively impacts future occupants and the larger community.<\/p>\n

Ecology<\/strong>: \u00a0awareness and connection with place and regional ecosystem<\/p>\n

Economy<\/strong>:\u00a0 add value for owners, occupants, community, and planet, regardless of size and budget.<\/p>\n

Wellness<\/strong>: support health and well-being for all people, considering physical, mental, and emotional effects<\/p>\n

Resources<\/strong>: informed material selection, balancing priorities to achieve durable, safe, and healthy projects with an equitable, sustainable supply chain to minimize negative impacts.<\/p>\n

Energy<\/strong>: reduce energy use and dependence on fossil fuels while improving building performance, function, comfort, and enjoyment.<\/p>\n

Change<\/strong>:\u00a0 adaptability, resilience, and reuse are essential to enhance usability, functionality, and value over time<\/p>\n

Discovery<\/strong>: every project presents an opportunity to learn from previous projects to refine the design and construction process<\/p>\n
