In the year that&#8217;s passed since that report&#8217;s publication, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting lost its federal funding, the National Endowment for the Humanities was radically restructured, causing <a href=\"https:\/\/wisconsinhumanities.org\/?gad_source=1&amp;gad_campaignid=21378793862&amp;gbraid=0AAAAADGyuStMU0ABw6STQgML4vNeW3_Ne&amp;gclid=CjwKCAjwz5nGBhBBEiwA-W6XRFbXNAb7-7Fzyk9_Qk3ujLjFGflBa1bt8dshGaCy7HeV5uQaBIWO5hoCSkUQAvD_BwE\">state humanities agencies to lose funding to the point of near closure<\/a>, and multiple U.S. universities have taken steps to <a href=\"https:\/\/chicagomaroon.com\/48307\/news\/uchicago-to-cut-some-ph-d-masters-admissions-for-2026-27\/\">shrink, pause, or shutter humanities degree-granting programs<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But the resilience of humanities practices and institutions in the face of so much uncertainty evinces their value, and merits further dialogue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The State of the Humanities MKE panel brought together four Milwaukee-based humanities advocates\u2014Michael Carriere (MSOE), Art Derse (MCW), Jodi Eastberg (MIAD), and Maggie Nettesheim Hoffmann (Marquette)\u2014to discuss:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>What&#8217;s important about the humanities in Milwaukee, especially in our current moment?&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What are we fighting to sustain, expand, or ideate?&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How can we care for the humanities in MKE?
