The Lost Art of Healing (Art Installation)

The art installation, The Lost Art of Healing, by Eric Avery (artist/psychiatrist University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston), was held at the University Art Museum-Mitchell Hall, Art History Gallery. The exhibit explored the clinical art space where visual art and medicine come together. On Friday April 24th and Saturday April 25th, Dr. Avery, gave a series of art/medicine “actions and lectures” with Jane Petro, MD (New York Medical College) and performing artist Lily Pink. While Dr. Avery gave medical examinations, Dr. Petro gave plastic surgery consultations, and Lily Pink represented the business (and theater) of medicine by hawking contemporary snake oil.
