{"id":182,"date":"2021-03-12T10:25:58","date_gmt":"2021-03-12T16:25:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/business\/?page_id=182"},"modified":"2023-08-07T12:52:18","modified_gmt":"2023-08-07T17:52:18","slug":"industry","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/business\/connections\/industry\/","title":{"rendered":"Industry Connect"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"uwm-l-row\">\n<div class=\"uwm-l-col\">\n<p class=\"lead-in\">The<strong>&nbsp;Industry Connect<\/strong>&nbsp;program allows your company to utilize 51ÁÔÆæ\u2019s Lubar College of Business as an extension of your operations by tapping into Lubar students and faculty for project work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Student&nbsp;Projects<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Student projects serve a business need for your company while allowing Lubar students to gain valuable real-world experience. Advanced students in the Lubar College of Business work on project deliverables over the course of a semester under the joint supervision of Lubar faculty and a sponsoring partner representative. Projects are assigned to 1 or 2-student consultant teams, dependent on your project scope, with each working 20 hours per week during the school year. Longer working hours are possible over the summer term. Projects typically last one semester. Based on a project\u2019s outcome, some industry partners choose to sponsor a project \u201cnext phase\u201d or sponsor another project later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Program flexibility exists for situations where a project start date cannot coincide with the start of a semester. Students are managed and paid as university employees and can work either at the Lubar College or the sponsoring company\u2019s facilities. The Lubar College also works with you to manage protection of your business-proprietary information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Cost:<\/strong>&nbsp;<em>Project costs dependent on number of project team students and project duration.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Benefits<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Sponsoring Partners benefit in several ways:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You engage more closely and observe students performing real project work to better consider those students for future, full-time employment<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You work with and build relationships with expert Lubar College of Business faculty and leverage their knowledge, and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sponsor Partners also benefit from reduced recruiting and administrative time and expenses to manage the students working in the Industry Connect program.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Students gain valuable real-world learning experience, along with earning stipends or credits. These students become more competitive in today\u2019s job market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Faculty members benefit by applying their knowledge to \u201creal world\u201d problems, while also maintaining currency in their skills.
