Utilizing Undergraduate Student Services and the Career Services Center is the key to your success!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"size-p-lg\">The following should be completed by the end of your freshman year:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-academic-advising\">Academic Advising<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Meet with your Academic Advisor for a new student advising appointment. Lubar Hall N297, 414-229-5271\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In the meeting, we will discuss:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Your intended major.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Admission to major and Lubar School requirements.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Course options and registration process for spring semester.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Progress Reports from instructors.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Important dates and deadlines.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>General Education Requirements (GERs).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Schedule of classes: uwm.edu\/schedule.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Meet with your Student Success Center Peer Mentor. Assigned to ever incoming student, mentors engage students in a variety of campus activities and initiatives that are designed to enhance the experience of all new students.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/studentsuccess\/\">Student Success Center<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Make academics a priority and accept personal responsibility for your own progress.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Utilize time management strategies and plan your work, study, and free time.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reach out for help when you need it. Stay in touch with your advisor.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Find a comfortable spot to study in Lubar Hall: one of the study rooms, the computer labs, or common spaces.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Utilize professor and teaching assistant (TA) office hours.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/studentsuccess\/\">Student Success Center<\/a> for tutoring help and Supplemental Instruction courses.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Investigate <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/business\/academics\/business-scholars\/\">Business Scholars<\/a>.
