cultures, please forward all information to the laboratory manager in order to update current records.\u00a0 University Safety &amp; Assurances requires documentation of all microorganisms, and has adopted the recommendations laid out in The American Society for Microbiology&#8217;s &#8220;Biosafety in Teaching Laboratories&#8221; guidelines.\u00a0 These guidelines recommend the use of cultures from, &#8220;&#8230;authorized commercial, or reputable sources (e.g., an academic laboratory or state health department.&#8221;\u00a0 ASM also recommends obtaining &#8220;fresh stock cultures of microorganism annually (e.g. purchased, revived from frozen stock cultures, etc.)&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The use of clinical specimens in 51ÁÔÆæ teaching labs is prohibited unless approved by the University
