If this describes your situation, you will also have access to our Pre-Professional Health Advising services. A Pre-Professional Advisor will help you become the most competitive applicant you can be by providing assistance with the application process to medical\/professional school and helping you find health-related volunteer and research opportunities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>or<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Those seeking to advance their careers in a scientific profession where a doctorate is not required.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Students who intend to go on for a doctorate in biology or who intend to seek another research-based doctorate program in the future should instead apply for the thesis-track MS program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-how-to-apply\">How to Apply<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Explore our&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/biology\/students\/graduate\/graduate-programs-admissions-information\/how-to-apply\/\">application information page&nbsp;<\/a>to learn more about the application process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-admission-nbsp-requirements-nbsp\">Admission&nbsp;Requirements&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Upon acceptance to the program, students will be notified of any curricular pre-requisites that must be completed as perceived by their faculty advisor. Extra programmatic requirements (physics, organic chemistry and calculus) will be determined by the student\u2019s faculty advisor. All basic requirements must be remedied by the end of the student\u2019s first year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-graduate-school-requirements\">Graduate School Requirements<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>There are a number of general Graduate School regulations and requirement for the Master\u2019s Degree that are described on <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/graduateschool\/students\/academic-policies-and-procedures\/masters-resources\/masters-requirements\/\">the Graduate School\u00a0website<\/a>. The student\u2019s program is governed by the rules in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/graduateschool\/students\/academic-policies-and-procedures\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Graduate School\u2019s Academic Policies &amp; Procedures<\/a>\u00a0issued the year in which the student enrolled in the graduate program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-plan-of-study\">Plan of Study<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Students must file a&nbsp;<strong><em>Plan of Study,&nbsp;<\/em>on or before the first day of instruction&nbsp;<\/strong>for that semester. All forms must be signed by the student and the faculty advisor.
