\u201cI have a personal interest or collision with everything I use. I\u2019m interested in the world around me. The stuff of everyday life.\u201d Raised in Maine and based in NYC, Wilkins creates moving image works combining conceptual rigor, uncanny observations, and bone-dry wit. From public hearings to mysterious videotapes, his work launches meditations on images, race, Hollywood, and life under late capitalism. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A downloadable PDF of a public hearing in Alleghany, New York; a mysterious videotape that becomes the center of a detective yarn; reflections on the history of the toxic Androscoggin River; or 35mm publicity stills scoured from movie studio press kits\u2026 in Wilkins\u2019s able hands these things act as launching pads for freewheeling, rhizomatic meditations on the photographed image, representations of race, the history of Hollywood, and American life as lived under late capitalism. Experimental\u00a0Tuesdays\u00a0is a free public series featuring celebrated work of contemporary and historical artist-made film and video.\u00a0This weekly series presents films and artists that explore the creative and critical potential of moving images.\u00a0It also amplifies marginalized voices by hosting artists that represent diverse populations, such as LGBT, Native American, Black and Latinx artists.\u00a0Hosted by the Department of Film, Video, Animation & New Genres, and presented in partnership with 51ÁÔÆæ\u2019s Union Cinema, this series is a bedrock of the Milwaukee arts landscape. Recent screenings include\u00a0Silvia das Fadas, Courtney Stephens, Simon Liu, Helena Wittman, Jessica Bardsley, Suneil Sanzgiri, Mary Helena Clark, Angelo Madsen Minax, and Rhayne Vermette to name a few.<\/em><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n
