    The 51ÁÔÆæ Percussion Area hosts World Percussion Night in the beautiful Jan Serr Studio, featuring special guest Ho Etsu Taiko alongside the 51ÁÔÆæ Steel PANthers Steel Band and other student ensembles. Audiences will love the upbeat, exciting energy of Japanese Taiko, Brazilian Samba, and West African drumming in addition to traditional and arranged music for Trinidadian steel pans performed by 51ÁÔÆæ students and faculty with vibrant community ensembles.

    The UW-Milwaukee Voice Area and Opera Theatre is proud to present RENT by Jonathan Larson preceded by a special performance of scenes from La Bohème by Giacomo Puccini. Experience Larson's groundbreaking musical that reshaped the landscape of American music theater. Set in New York’s East Village during the 1990s arts and activist movement, RENT follows a community of young artists navigating love, loss, creativity, and the realities of illness and economic hardship. Its blend of rock, pop, and lyrical storytelling continues to connect deeply with audiences.

    This concert features two World Premieres. 'Cellist and composer Paul Wiancko of the prestigious Kronos Quartet has written a brand new work for Present Music, and will perform some of his other compositions, including American Haiku, When the Night, and Closed Universe. Pamela Z performs her solo works for voice and an array of electronics, and contributes another World Premiere to the program, Raise, a stirring tribute to the people who raised us, written for 'cellist Nick Photinos (founding member of 8th Blackbird) and three additional cellists, plus voice samples and multi-media. Is the plural of cello "cellos" or "celli"? We say Cello Cello!
