The dances in this program honor the enduring human impulse to take up space\, put down roots\, and rise. This evening features new works by guest artist Karlies Kelley\, and dance faculty Daniel Burkholder\, Tiffany Kadani\, Dan Schuchart\, and Christal Wagner. \n\n\n\nThe works spanning this evening move between the personal and the political\, the historical and the deeply felt. Choreographers draw on stories of marginalized communities celebrating their right to exist\, of neighborhoods razed and rebuilt through resistance\, of generational trauma transformed in the body\, and of individual journeys shaped by what we choose to carry — and what we leave behind. Across every work\, a common pulse beats: the insistence on blooming\, even in unlikely soil. \n\n\n\nThe bar is open! 51 Peck School of the Arts is proud to partner with Saz’s to offer a limited selection of beer\, wine\, cocktails and non-alcoholic beverages available for purchase at this event.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn-person Tickets\n\n\n\nGeneral$22Seniors 65+\, *51 Faculty\, Staff & Alumni$17Youth 17 and Under$12*51 Student$12*PSOA Student (events ONLY in your department)FREE*If you have a 51 email account\, please log in when visiting the Box Office page in order to display all 51 affiliated ticket pricing.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLivestream Tickets\n\n\n\nLivestream$27––––––––Livestream URLs are sent from psoatix@uwm.edu to the purchasing e-mail two hours prior to event start time.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPurchase In-Person Tickets\n\n\n\nPurchase Livestream Tickets\n\n\n\nView Program (PDF) URL:/arts/event/springdances/ LOCATION:Kenilworth Square East\, Jan Serr Studio\, 2155 N. The event was established in response to student requests and precedes the large 51 Commencement. We encourage you to attend both ceremonies. \nThe convocation ceremony begins with a procession of graduating students into the Bader Concert Hall. Students are seated on stage with the Dean and Department Chairs. There will be an address with opening remarks and all graduates being recognized. Students will be called up by department\, with each department introduced by a selection of work representing their discipline. When your department is standing\, you will be called by name to walk across the stage and receive your stole (a piece of academic regalia\, much like a long scarf\, that you can wear with your cap and gown to the campus-wide Commencement ceremony). After the closing remarks and recessional\, everyone crosses the lobby to Zelazo 280 for a dessert reception. \n\n\nIs the event in-person or virtual?\n\n\nPSOA Convocation is an in-person event\, which will also be live-streamed for those who cannot attend in person. \n\n\nWho should participate?\n\n\nAll Peck School of the Arts students who have graduated or will be graduating by any of the dates listed above along with friends and family of graduating students are welcome to attend. \n\n\nDoes it cost anything?\n\n\nThe event is free. Tickets are not required\, but we do appreciate that you RSVP so we can best plan for your enjoyment. \n\n\nCan I invite my family and friends?\n\n\nDefinitely! You will receive an email invitation to the Peck School of the Arts Graduation Convocation in early April. Feel free to pass it along to friends to attend in-person or online. \n\n\nHow many guests may I bring?\n\n\nYou may bring as many guests as you like. Please RSVP with the total number of in-person attendees so we can plan accordingly. \n\n\nWhat should I wear?\n\n\nThere is no dress code for this event.
