Biography
Jeffrey Kurz is a producer, writer, educator and former film studio executive.听听During his eight-year tenure at Miramax Films, he was involved in Neil Jordan鈥檚听Academy Award-winning听The Crying Game, Wes Craven鈥檚听Scream,听Alex Proyas鈥檚听The Crow,听Guillermo del Toro鈥檚听Mimic, Chris Eyre鈥檚听Smoke Signals,听and John Carpenter鈥檚听Halloween听series.听听
Recently produced feature films include:听The Vivian Maier Mystery听for the BBC; and听Deep Woods, written and directed by Steve Laughlin and released by 1091 Pictures.听听Film projects in development include:听An Ocean Apart听starring Charlotte Gainsbourg as Simone de Beauvoir and Matt Dillon as Nelson Algren;听Blackdeer, with director Elle-M谩ij谩 Tailfeathers; and听Dead Girl Walking, with directors Jeff Fitzsimmons and Stuart Davis.
A graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Kurz also teaches professional practice courses in screenwriting and film producing at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee鈥檚 Peck School of the Arts.听听He has lectured on entertainment industry practices at Northwestern University, the University of Wisconsin-Madison, the Writers Institute and the Chicago Writers Institute, and is a member of the board of Milwaukee Film and the Catalyst Story Institute.
