American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS)<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

AIAS is the organization through which SARUP students find their voice, build confidence, and develop leadership skills. AIAS is an organization of the students, by the students, and for the students. Our AIAS chapter organizes and coordinates professional development activities such as seminars, field trips, and networking events with architecture professionals. AIAS is a means for students to have fun and meet others through social activities, including our annual Spring Ball and Sandcastles Competition at the lakefront. This organization has a strong local and national presence and is continually growing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Milwaukee Student Planning Association (MSPA)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

MSPA is the local student chapter of the American Planning Association and strives to provide a venue for students, faculty, urban planning professionals and the community to explore and discuss urban planning topics and issues. This organization provides opportunities for student members to attend planning-related conferences and lectures, to engage real urban planning issues and propose solutions, and to network with other students and professionals in the field.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

National Organization of Minority Architecture Students (NOMAS)<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The National Organization of Minority Architects (NOMA) was founded in Detroit, Michigan, as an organization dedicated to the needs of minority design professionals and improving the built environment. The first official meeting was held during the 1971 AIA National Convention in Detroit. Twelve African American architects from different parts of the country met at the convention and realized the need for an organization of this type. These architects wanted minority design professionals to work together to fight against discrimination and policies that condoned discrimination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Student chapters (NOMAS) provide both a resource for information and a consortium for young designers. SARUP is proud to be home to a NOMAS Chapter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Women In Design-Students (WIDs)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Women In Design-Students (WIDs) is a student group that is tightly connected to Women In Design-Milwaukee (WID). The student group is continuing to grow its membership by creating ways to be a link between students and professionals in the design field. Through WID, student members are exposed to monthly speaker events, mentorships, and volunteer opportunities.
