The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (51ÁÔÆæ) is committed to providing equal access to all of its programs, services and activities for individuals with disabilities. 51ÁÔÆæ\u2019s Accessibility Resource Center (ARC) facilitates this commitment for enrolled students by verifying a student\u2019s disability and identifying the reasonable accommodation(s) that should be provided to the student or that are otherwise necessary to ensure equal access.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This Appeal Procedure is intended to provide for the prompt and equitable resolution of complaints involving disability determinations or accommodation decisions made by ARC. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
View Appeal Procedure for Accommodation Decisions.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n If a student disputes a university housing accommodation decision, the student must first indicate in writing their request for the University Housing (UH) Accommodation Committee to review their case again. The student should provide any additional supporting materials the student wishes the UH Accommodation Committee to consider in this request. This request for review must be submitted within three (3) working days of the UH Accommodation Committee\u2019s initial decision. The UH Accommodation Committee should respond in writing to the student within 5 working days of receiving the request to review.<\/p>\n\n\n\n If after the review the student still disputes the academic accommodation decision, the student can begin the formal appeal process. <\/p>\n\n\n\n View the Formal Appeal Process for University Housing.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n When students applying for accommodations would like to release any medical records to ARC as supporting documentation, students may download, complete, and submit the Authorization for Release of Confidential Information<\/a>. If students would like to allow ARC to discuss any documentation or accommodation plans, etc. with a parent or guardian (or other individual), the student may create an Information Release Consent in ARConnect, our student portal. This can be done in the student’s profile, after the student submits an application for accommodations or any time after a student is formally registered in ARC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Accessibility Resource Center (ARC) is the office at 51ÁÔÆæ that is responsible for collecting and holding disability related information for students with disabilities who request accommodations. This information, from an appropriate source, is used for establishing the student\u2019s eligibility for academic or housing accommodation(s) and is treated as confidential.
