{"id":579,"date":"2022-08-24T09:40:16","date_gmt":"2022-08-24T14:40:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/arc\/?page_id=579"},"modified":"2023-12-11T12:43:15","modified_gmt":"2023-12-11T18:43:15","slug":"alternate-formats","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/arc\/accommodations-services\/alternate-formats\/","title":{"rendered":"Alternate Formats"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"uwm-l-row\">\n<div class=\"uwm-l-col\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"student-expectations\">Student Expectations<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Provide information regarding required textbooks four (4) weeks prior to the start of the semester or as soon after registering as possible.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Attempt to acquire accessible formats of textbooks through <a href=\"https:\/\/www.accesstext.org\/accessible-textbook-finder\">Accessible Texbook Finder<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bookshare.org\/cms\/\">Bookshare <\/a>before requesting alternate formats from ARC.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provide proof of purchase or rental when requesting an alternate format from ARC.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Immediately notify ARC if an alternate format is no longer needed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Students with alternate formats accommodations acknowledge that: <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>They may, on rare occasions, be asked to provide their textbook for scanning.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>All requests for alternate formats and proof of purchases or rentals must be submitted through <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/arc\/connect\">ARConnect<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>They will receive notification through ARConnect when a requested alternate format is available.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It is their responsibility to retrieve the alternate format through ARConnect.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Alternate formats provided by ARC are for educational purposes consistent with their courses and will only be utilized by them.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"instructor-information\">Instructor Information<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Please order and\/or provide accessible course materials. When this is not possible, provide early information on course reading materials and syllabus information with a schedule of readings, so materials can be converted to an alternate format for students with print disabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wisconsin Act 124 requires instructional materials to be accessible for students with disabilities.
