The street address is 1500 North University Drive in Waukesha.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--header\">How can I contact ARC?<\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel\"><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel-inner uwm-u-clear\">\n<p><strong>Email<\/strong>: archelp@uwm.edu<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Fax<\/strong>: (414) 229-2237<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Phone<\/strong>: (414) 229-6287<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"faculty-staff-questions\">Faculty and Staff Questions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-accordion\" data-accordion-prefix-classes=\"uwm\" data-accordion-cool-selectors=\"1\"><button class=\"uwm-p-accordion--toggle-button size-p-md\">Expand All<\/button>\n<div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--header\">Where can I find information about the students using accommodations in my courses?<\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel\"><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel-inner uwm-u-clear\">\n<p>Instructors can view a list of students in their courses, who have accommodation requests, through an online and secure Instructor portal called <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/arc\/profconnect\/\">PROFconnect<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--header\">How do I respond to the testing agreement?<\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel\"><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel-inner uwm-u-clear\">\n<p><strong>If there is no exam, quiz, or final in your class<\/strong>, choose &#8220;My Class Has No Exam&#8221; and select Confirm to Proceed (under Confirm Task). Click Submit Your Selection, and your testing agreement is complete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>If an exam, quiz, or final is administered through Canvas, or if you can accommodate the student within your department<\/strong>, choose &#8220;I Will Administer My Own Exams&#8221; and select Confirm to Proceed (under Confirm Task). Click Submit Your Selection, and your testing agreement is complete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>If you would like ARC to administer an exam, quiz, or final<\/strong>, please select &#8220;ARC Will Proctor Exams,&#8221; choose Confirm to Proceed and Submit Your Selection. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Before ARC can administer any exams<\/strong>, you must fill out the questionnaire that follows, which allows you to define any testing parameters that ARC should follow.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Before a student can schedule any exams in ARC&#8217;s testing center<\/strong>, you must enter exam dates and times, which can be done after the questionnaire has been submitted. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Once a questionnaire is complete and exam dates and times entered, a student can schedule an exam to be taken in ARC&#8217;s testing center. You will receive notifications when this happens.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--header\">How do I extend test time in Canvas for one or two students?<\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel\"><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel-inner uwm-u-clear\">\n<p>First, you need to <a href=\"https:\/\/community.canvaslms.com\/t5\/Instructor-Guide\/How-do-I-assign-a-quiz-to-an-individual-student\/ta-p\/714\">assign a quiz to the specific student<\/a>. Second, <a href=\"https:\/\/community.canvaslms.com\/t5\/Instructor-Guide\/How-do-I-moderate-a-student-s-quiz-attempt-in-New-Quizzes\/ta-p\/655\">moderate a specific student&#8217;s quiz attempt in New Quizzes<\/a> to extend the time.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--header\">A student wants to make an audio recording of my lectures. Can I refuse this request?<\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel\"><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel-inner uwm-u-clear\">\n<p>If a student registered with ARC is approved for the accommodation of audio recordings, the student may use these recordings to support notetaking. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ed.gov\/laws-and-policy\/individuals-disabilities\/auxiliary-aids-and-services-for-postsecondary-students-with-disabilities\">Under the ADA, instructors may not forbid a student to record their lecture if this is an approved accommodation.<\/a> Recordings of class lectures are for personal use only, may not be shared, and will be destroyed when no longer needed. Also, ARC requires students to sign the Audio Recording E-Form, which educates the student about Intellectual Property Rights and confirms their understanding of and agreement to follow these guidelines and expectations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If the course discussion involves sensitive topics and the instructor is concerned about the recording of such discussion, the instructor must ask ALL students to stop taking notes, not just the student with accommodations.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--header\">How can I make course documents, presentations, online lecture, or other course materials accessible for students with disabilities?<\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel\"><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel-inner uwm-u-clear\">\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ndrn.org\/accessibility-guidelines\/\">The National Disability Rights Network (NDRN) has created a set of guidelines that addresses this question.<\/a> This site page includes explanations and suggestions for Word documents, PowerPoint presentations, and more and includes an Accessibility Checklist. Links to instructions for following through with recommendations and suggestions can be found within the page as well.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--header\">I have a question about accommodating a student with a disability in my class. Who should I contact?<\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel\"><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel-inner uwm-u-clear\">\n<p>Please first discuss any concerns or questions regarding a students accommodations directly with the student. You may also contact the student&#8217;s Access Specialist should you have any additional questions or concerns. The name and contact information of the Access Specialist for each student is identified at the bottom of the Notification of Disability Accommodations letter you should have received. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--header\">How do I refer a student to the Accessibility Resource Center?<\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel\"><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel-inner uwm-u-clear\">\n<p>You can refer a student to ARC through <a href=\"https:\/\/uwmilwaukee.campus.eab.com\/\">Navigate<\/a> or guide the student to <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/arc\/apply\/\">apply for an academic accommodation<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"student-questions\">Student Questions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-accordion\" data-accordion-prefix-classes=\"uwm\" data-accordion-cool-selectors=\"1\"><button class=\"uwm-p-accordion--toggle-button size-p-md\">Expand All<\/button>\n<div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--header\"><strong>How do I report a physical barrier?<\/strong><\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel\"><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel-inner uwm-u-clear\">\n<p>Individuals may report campus physical accessibility issues at&nbsp;<a href=\"tel:414-229-4742\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">414-229-4742<\/a>&nbsp;or&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:servicerequest@uwm.edu\">servicerequest@uwm.edu<\/a>. For more information, visit the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/facility-services\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Campus Facilities website.<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--header\">Who is my Access Specialist?<\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel\"><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel-inner uwm-u-clear\">\n<p>Students can find the name, phone number, and email of their Access Specialist in ARConnect, on their Overview page.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--header\">What are my options if denied or not provided an approved accommodation? <\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel\"><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel-inner uwm-u-clear\">\n<p>If an approved accommodation is denied or not provided, students should immediately notify their ARC Access Specialist or file an <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/arc\/accommodation-related-complaint-or-concern\/\">Accommodation Related Complaint<\/a> with the ARC Director.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--header\">Are there pregnancy-related accommodations?<\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel\"><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel-inner uwm-u-clear\">\n<p>Although pregnancy itself is not a disability, pregnancy-related impairments may qualify as disabilities under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Examples include pregnancy-related carpal tunnel syndrome, gestational diabetes, pregnancy-related sciatica, and preeclampsia. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students who are pregnant are protected under Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 (\u201cTitle IX\u201d) and can receive support through <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/community-empowerment-institutional-inclusivity\/services\/title-ix\/\">51ÁÔÆæ\u2019s Title IX Coordinator<\/a>.
