If a student disputes a university housing and\/or dining accommodation decision, the student must first indicate in writing their request for the University Housing (UH) Accommodation Committee to review their case again. The student should provide any additional supporting materials the student wishes the UH Accommodation Committee to consider in this request. This request for review must be submitted within three (3) working days of the UH Accommodation Committee\u2019s initial decision. The UH Accommodation Committee should respond in writing to the student within 5 working days of receiving the request to review.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If after the review the student still disputes the university housing accommodation decision, the student can proceed with the following steps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Step 1. First Level Appeal<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The student may appeal in writing to an ARC Access Specialist identified by the ARC Director. The student must specifically indicate in writing that they are raising an appeal pursuant to this Appeal Procedure. The student should include a clear and concise statement of the issue(s) requiring review and provide a copy of any supporting materials the student wishes the ARC Access Specialist to consider. This should occur within three (3) working days of the review decision that prompted the appeal. The ARC Access Specialist then must provide a decision to the student in writing within three (3) working days of the receipt of the appeal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Step 2. Second Level of Appeal<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n If the student is not satisfied with the result of Step 1, the student may appeal in writing to the ARC Director and University Housing Director or Associate Director of Dining and Retail Services. This appeal must be received by the Director(s) within three (3) working days of the date of the Step 1 decision. The appeal should be directed to the department in which your appeal is directed toward. The student should include the following information in their appeal: (1) a clear and concise statement of the issues to be reviewed, (2) a summary of steps taken by the student to resolve the issue(s), (3) a detailed description of the relevant facts, (4) names of persons with relevant information, and (5) a copy of relevant documents or other evidence. The Directors will consult with appropriate parties and may meet with the student at the Directors\u2019 discretion. The Directors will respond to the student in writing within three (3) working days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Other Options<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n In addition to this Appeal Procedure, 51ÁÔÆæ has a policy that prohibits discrimination against students on the basis of disability called 51ÁÔÆæ\u2019s Discriminatory Conduct Policy (S-47). The Discriminatory Conduct Policy provides a mechanism for students to file complaints with 51ÁÔÆæ\u2019s Office of Equity and Diversity Services<\/a> (\u201cEDS\u201d), which is charged with investigating such claims.
