If you are interested in taking any of these courses, please contact the professors or departments directly for more information about the course content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-college-of-letters-and-science\">College of Letters and Science<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-anthropology\"><a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/anthropology\/\">Anthropology<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Anthro 354: Anthropology of Art (3 credits)<br>Styles, techniques, and aesthetics of the arts of non-Western peoples; their relation to other aspects of culture, prehistoric and contemporary art in selected areas.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Anthro 426 \u2013 Who Owns the Past? (3 credits)<br>Social\/political ramifications of the study, interpretation, presentation, conservation of the past; institutions\/stakeholders involved in those processes: museums, scholars, ethnic groups, the public.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Anthro 920 \u2013 Advanced Seminar in Museological Problems (3 credits)<br>Use of museum collections\/museums to examine museum work regarding legal considerations, ethics, documentation; use of collections to test theories and develop conceptual exhibits.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-history\"><a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/history\/\">History<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This department offers a number of courses that may complement the museum studies certificate. If you have a specific research interest it might be useful to refer to the course listings in the department each semester.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-graduate-certificate-in-rhetorical-leadership\"><a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/rhetorical-leadership\/\">Graduate Certificate in Rhetorical Leadership<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Commun 701 \u2013 Critical Analysis of Communication (3 credits)<br>Introduction to the methods and techniques of humanistic research in communication, with special focus on problems of criticism and history.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Commun 762 \u2013 Argumentation in Theory and Practice (3 credits )<br>Integrates argumentation theories and real-life arguing experience to practice leadership-in-action. Assumes no prior knowledge of argumentation theories.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Commun 772 \u2013 Rhetorical Leadership and Ethics (3 credits )<br>Examines the practice of responsible leadership from the humanities-based perspectives of rhetoric.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-graduate-certificate-in-non-profit-management\"><a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/public-nonprofit-administration\/graduate-programs\/certificate\/\">Graduate Certificate in Non-Profit Management<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Students may not receive credit toward the certificate for more than one of these courses.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>One of the following three courses:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Bus Mgmt 718 \u2013 Concepts and Practice of Nonprofit Management (3 credits)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Nonprof 704 \u2013 Seminar in Nonprofit Organizations (3 credits)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Nonprof 789 \u2013 Theory and Role of Nonprofit Organizations (3 credits)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Both of the following two courses:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Bus Mgmt 724 \u2013 Accounting for Nonprofit Organizations (3 credits)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bus Mgmt 725 \u2013 Governance and Executive Leadership of Nonprofit Organizations (3 credits)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>One of the following three courses:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Bus Adm 766 \u2013 Marketing for Nonprofit Organizations (3 credits)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bus Mgmt 721 \u2013 Fundraising and Development for Nonprofit Organizations (3 credits)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Nonprof 705 \u2013 Professionals and Volunteers in Nonprofit Organizations (3 credits)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-college-of-community-engagement-amp-professions\">College of Community Engagement &amp; Professions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-mlis-coordinated-degree-program\"><a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/informationstudies\/academic-programs\/library-and-information-science-masters\/\">MLIS \u2013 Coordinated Degree Program<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>L&amp;I Sci 501 \u2013 Foundations of Library and Information Science, 3 credits<br>Historical introduction to library and information science (LIS); outline of the role of information agencies in disseminating knowledge to users; overview of research in LIS.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>L&amp;I Sci 511 \u2013 Organization of Information, 3 credits<br>Introduction to basic concepts in the theoretical, practical, and technological aspects of information organization.
