Artificial Intelligence Taskforce Final Report<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

To guide the future of this portfolio and how we apply safe and responsible practices to influence what AI services we buy or build and how we consume them, two new governance subcommittees are being developed and incorporated into the existing IT governance framework. The first is AI Governance. This subcommittee will be responsible for overseeing the future of the AI service portfolio at 51ÁÔÆæ in support of evolving institutional needs. The second is IT Ethics and Privacy. This subcommittee will draw upon the recommendations of the AITF to shape AI policy and establish safe and responsible practices which will guide the adoption and use of AI technologies at 51ÁÔÆæ. Both subcommittees are actively being organized and are expected to launch in April 2025. With their launch will come the formal retirement of the AITF and the associated subcommittees. When this occurs, the IT Advisory Council will provide executive oversight of 51ÁÔÆæ\u2019s AI services, and the IT Infrastructure and Operations Subcommittee will provide guidance for underlying infrastructure of these technologies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Applied AI Center of Excellence at 51ÁÔÆæ<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In recognition of the fact that AI expertise and talent spans the campus, the Applied AI Center of Excellence will be launched this summer to establish a partnership amongst organizations across campus to promote skills development and widespread practice of AI. This CoE will also promote and contribute expertise and resources to enable AI-enabled application development which supports strategic and operational outcomes to enhance campus capabilities and elevate human experiences at 51ÁÔÆæ.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AI website at 51ÁÔÆæ<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

To help promote awareness of the AITF and adjacent work, a new AI website will be launching this spring (https:\/\/uwm.edu\/AI<\/a>). This site will be a focal point for all inquiries about AI at 51ÁÔÆæ. To help guide campus users in the safe and responsible use of campus AI services, AI literacy materials are being developed by CASL, which should be available later this spring. To help showcase the work of the AITF, how instructors, researchers, and staff have leveraged these technologies to deliver value, and promote safe and responsible use, AI governance will oversee the continuation of subsequent AI Town Halls. Two AI Town Halls had taken place prior sponsored by the AITF. All these materials will be published to the new AI website to promote awareness and provide people with opportunity to connect with groups on campus utilizing these technologies in specific ways.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
