{"id":49,"date":"2024-05-07T13:03:03","date_gmt":"2024-05-07T18:03:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/ai\/?page_id=49"},"modified":"2026-04-17T15:04:08","modified_gmt":"2026-04-17T20:04:08","slug":"taskforce","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/ai\/taskforce\/","title":{"rendered":"AI Taskforce"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"uwm-l-row\">\n<div class=\"uwm-l-col\">\n<p class=\"size-p-lg\">51ÁÔÆæ strives to best leverage artificial intelligence (AI) and ensure it is implemented in a manner consistent with our research and educational mission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"size-p-lg\">In spring 2024, the university formed the <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/news\/task-force-works-to-prepare-and-guide-ai-tools-across-campus\/\">AI Taskforce<\/a>, led by Scott Genung, associate vice chancellor and chief information officer, and Purush Papatla, Northwestern Mutual Data Science Institute professor of marketing and co-director of the Northwestern Mutual Data Science Institute. The group of 50 campus stakeholders aims to identify existing and potential \u201cuse cases,\u201d develop standards to ensure the responsible use of AI, identify tools needed to implement AI solutions and define pilot projects.\u202fThe AI Taskforce includes six workgroups.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-l-col uwm-l-col--4 uwm-l-offset--1\"><nav aria-label=\"Sidebar\" class=\"uwm-p-navigation-list uwm-p-navigation-list--gold-border \"><div class=\"uwm-p-navigation-list--title\">AI Taskforce Reports<\/div><ul>\n<li class=''><a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/ai\/taskforce\/artificial-intelligence-taskforce-final-report\/\" class=\"\" rel=\"\" target=\"\"><span>Artificial Intelligence Taskforce Final Report<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n\n<li class=''><a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/ai\/taskforce\/responsible-ai-workgroup-final-report\/\" class=\"\" rel=\"\" target=\"\"><span>Responsible AI Workgroup Final Report<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul><\/nav><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:60px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-card-grid uwm-l-grid uwm-l-grid--equal-y uwm-l-grid--3\">\n<div class=\"uwm-p-card uwm-u-mb-40 uwm-p-card--shadow uwm-p-card--gold\"><div class=\"uwm-p-card--body\"><div class=\"uwm-p-card--title\">Education &amp; Curriculum<\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-card--content\">The workgroup builds on the existing work in the Center for Advancing Student Learning to identify existing use cases in instruction and to identify opportunities and future needs. <\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-card uwm-u-mb-40 uwm-p-card--shadow uwm-p-card--gold\"><div class=\"uwm-p-card--body\"><div class=\"uwm-p-card--title\">Student Experience<\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-card--content\">The workgroup identified ways that 51ÁÔÆæ could use AI to better improve the student experience \u2013 helping them access information in a more efficient manner and better link with advising and other resources. <\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-card uwm-u-mb-40 uwm-p-card--shadow uwm-p-card--gold\"><div class=\"uwm-p-card--body\"><div class=\"uwm-p-card--title\">Research<\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-card--content\">The workgroup examined existing research in AI, tools needed for 51ÁÔÆæ to continue discovery in AI, and explored ways that AI can improve the process of research \u2013 including identifying research opportunities and using AI as a research tool across a variety of disciplines.<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-card uwm-u-mb-40 uwm-p-card--shadow uwm-p-card--gold\"><div class=\"uwm-p-card--body\"><div class=\"uwm-p-card--title\">Business Processes<\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-card--content\">The workgroup identified opportunities to streamline our internal processes to improve efficiency and best leverage 51ÁÔÆæ talent.<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-card uwm-u-mb-40 uwm-p-card--shadow uwm-p-card--gold\"><div class=\"uwm-p-card--body\"><div class=\"uwm-p-card--title\">Infrastructure &amp; Data<\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-card--content\">The workgroup built on the various use cases identified to determine which of the quickly evolving tools could be implemented, while ensuring that data is protected in an appropriate manner.<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-card uwm-u-mb-40 uwm-p-card--shadow uwm-p-card--gold\"><div class=\"uwm-p-card--body\"><div class=\"uwm-p-card--title\">Responsible AI<\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-card--content\">The workgroup explored ethical considerations and best practices at other institutions to propose governance frameworks, policies and practices to ensure the ethical and appropriate use of AI at 51ÁÔÆæ.<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"","protected":false},"author":1287,"featured_media":0,"parent":0,"menu_order":3,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"templates\/centered.php","meta":{"footnotes":"","uwm_wg_additional_authors":[]},"class_list":["post-49","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v27.3 (Yoast SEO v27.3) -
