The event features a keynote address and a series of 1-hour sessions where educators can share best practices\, celebrate achievements\, and explore new theories and methods. Each year\, the symposium focuses on a specific theme related to a different aspect of Teaching & Learning. This year’s theme is “Year of High Impact Practices (HIPs).” \n\n\n\nThe Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) invites 51 faculty\, academic staff\, and graduate teaching assistants to submit proposals for the symposium and are especially interested in sessions sharing how High-Impact Practices and/or their associated Eight Key Elements are embedded into teaching and learning at the department\, program\, or college level.  Submit your proposal by Tuesday\, 5 November 2024 at 4:30pm.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSubmit Your Session Proposal URL:/advancing-learning/event/2025-teaching-learning-symposium-proposal-submission-deadline/ LOCATION:WI CATEGORIES:Academic Dates and Deadlines,Career and Leadership Development,CETL Events,Conferences,Faculty and Staff,Lectures Conferences and Symposiums,51 Campus Events,Virtual ATTACH;FMTTYPE=image/png:/advancing-learning/wp-content/uploads/sites/643/2024/08/Symposium_Circle.png ORGANIZER;CN="CETL Team Members":MAILTO:cetl@uwm.edu X-TRIBE-STATUS: END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;TZID=America/Chicago:20241106T090000 DTEND;TZID=America/Chicago:20241106T100000 DTSTAMP:20260419T060517 CREATED:20240912T144208Z LAST-MODIFIED:20241015T152256Z UID:10000357-1730883600-1730887200@uwm.edu SUMMARY:Active Teaching Lab – AI as Catalyst DESCRIPTION:AI as Catalyst:\n\n\n\nEmpowering Students to Focus on What Really Matters\n\n\n\nAre your students spending too much time on tasks that don’t meaningfully enhance their learning? Join us November 6th to learn how instructors Cynthia Brinich-Langlois and Joseph Mougel harnessed Artificial Intelligence (AI) in their classes to enhance student creativity and efficiency. By asking students to utilize AI tools in course work\, Dr. Brinich-Langlois and Mougel allowed students to focus more on core learning objectives\, spend less time on extraneous work\, all the while producing higher-quality material faster. This workshop will provide hands-on opportunities to incorporate AI into course activities within any discipline\, helping us see how AI technology can enhance rather than distract from our teaching goals. \n\n\n\nThis session will be held both in-person and online via Zoom. Registration is not required. However\, if you plan to attend in-person please register below – so we know how many much food to order \n\n\n\nCan’t make it to campus? No problems – Join us via this link! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister Here\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFacilitators\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLocation\n\n\n\nEngelmann Hall (ENG) B732033 E.
