Mark found that by partnering with AI\, the quality of his questions improved\, the time he took to build these questions decreased\, and he was able to do more low stakes assessments in his course\, which together improved his student learning outcomes. Join us as we experiment with a variety of AI tools to create\, edit\, and improve low-stakes course activities! \n\n\n\nThis session will be held both in-person and online via Zoom. Registration is not required. However\, if you plan to attend in-person please register below – so we know how many much food to order \n\n\n\nCan’t make it to campus? Webinars will be 90 – 120 minutes long and live-streamed on Zoom.\n\n\n\nBoth faculty and students needed a new digital literacy to apply the increased critical thinking needed in the internet age\, and AI literacy is a critical new skill every teacher and graduate needs. The two largest complaints about AI responses are that they are either wrong or boring\, but both are often the result of poor or bland prompting. AI prompts need to provide more human context and be more literal than the ones we tend to use with a search engine. Since AI uses natural human language\, it also needs human-level communication precision: asking your AI to slow down and think more carefully can greatly improve results! The features of better prompts– task\, format\, voice and context–are direct extensions of the critical writing and thinking skills we already teach and value. In this interactive workshop\, you will learn how to find the right AI tool for your task and get to compare and practice with different AIs. \n\n\n\nRegister to get the Zoom link. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister Here URL:/advancing-learning/event/workshop-1-artificial-intelligence-ai-literacy-prompt-engineering/ LOCATION:WI CATEGORIES:Career and Leadership Development,CETL Events,Faculty and Staff,UW Administration Events,51 Campus Events,Virtual,Workshops ATTACH;FMTTYPE=image/jpeg:/advancing-learning/wp-content/uploads/sites/643/2024/10/Gen-AI-Logo-small-2048x408-1.jpg ORGANIZER;CN="Lane Sunwall":MAILTO:sunwall@uwm.edu X-TRIBE-STATUS: END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;TZID=America/Chicago:20241023T103000 DTEND;TZID=America/Chicago:20241023T120000 DTSTAMP:20260419T060243 CREATED:20240912T135622Z LAST-MODIFIED:20241015T152045Z UID:10000286-1729679400-1729684800@uwm.edu SUMMARY:Lane in the Library DESCRIPTION:Find CETL’s very own Lane Sunwall in the library every Wednesday for drop-in support with teaching\, learning\, and Canvas questions. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNo Registration Needed for This Event \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFacilitators\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLocation\n\n\n\nGolda Meir Library2311 E Hartford AveMilwaukee\, 53211 URL:/advancing-learning/event/lane-in-the-library-9/ LOCATION:Golda Meir Library\, Golda Meir Library\, 2311 E Hartford Ave\, Milwaukee\, Wisconsin\, 53211\, United States CATEGORIES:Career and Leadership Development,CETL Events,Faculty and Staff,In-Person,51 Campus Events ATTACH;FMTTYPE=image/png:/advancing-learning/wp-content/uploads/sites/643/2024/03/lane-in-the-library-graphic.png ORGANIZER;CN="Lane Sunwall":MAILTO:sunwall@uwm.edu X-TRIBE-STATUS: END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;TZID=America/Chicago:20241023T130000 DTEND;TZID=America/Chicago:20241023T143000 DTSTAMP:20260419T060243 CREATED:20240920T202808Z LAST-MODIFIED:20241015T152102Z UID:10000375-1729688400-1729693800@uwm.edu SUMMARY:Proposal Preparation Workshop | Teaching & Learning Symposium DESCRIPTION:Interested in presenting at the 2025 Teaching and Learning Symposium but have questions about the process? These concepts are applicable to any course format and type! \n\n\n\nOur courses are the one place all students have the opportunity to experience the Eight Key Elements of High Impact Practices. These eight elements are what will leverage the “high impact” that increases achievement\, graduation\, retention\, and learning. In this first session we will introduce tools and practices designed to help set and efficiently scale the use of high-level performance expectations for students across courses and curricula. To increase the sustainability of this practice\, we will introduce several strategies to maintain high-level performance expectations for students over time\, changing TAs\, adjunct and new instructors\, GER courses\, across multiple multiple sections\, and throughout your curriculum in both online and face-to-face courses.  \n\n\n\nPlease register and encourage colleagues from your unit or department to attend. Participants will be encouraged to share their successful and challenging course applications and in a Canvas Discussion between meetings. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister Here\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFacilitator\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEvent Location\n\n\n\nEngelmann B732033 E.
