{"id":53417,"date":"2024-07-18T20:06:43","date_gmt":"2024-07-18T20:06:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/acs-exams\/?page_id=53417"},"modified":"2026-02-13T19:13:05","modified_gmt":"2026-02-13T19:13:05","slug":"norm-reduction-tool","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/acs-exams\/norm-reduction-tool\/","title":{"rendered":"Norm Reduction Tool"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Some instructors and faculty may be cautious about using national norms for their courses because of any number of reasons:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The course is not designed the same (i.e. use a different ordering of content between first and second terms)<\/li>\n<li>Coursetime has been reduced with less time to teach content<\/li>\n<li>Content has been removed from the course<\/li>\n<li>Students are worried about taking a test with questions that were not in their course<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 style=\"padding-left: 40px\"><em>We have the answer!<\/em><\/h2>\n<p>We have developed a new tool that allows you to remove items from the nationally normed test and receive new, reduced norms.<\/p>\n<p>To access this tool:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You can click on a link below based on exam. The link will redirect you to an application.<\/li>\n<li>An instructional PowerPoint can be downloaded <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/clapsback\/ACSExamTrimmer\/raw\/main\/Instructions%20for%20ACS%20Exam%20Trimmer%20Web%20App%20V3.7.pptx\">here<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>The application also allows you to upload your own data to determine each student\u2019s percentile against the national sample.
