{"id":48178,"date":"2016-04-12T19:13:52","date_gmt":"2016-04-12T19:13:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/acs-exams\/?page_id=48178"},"modified":"2026-02-13T18:42:37","modified_gmt":"2026-02-13T18:42:37","slug":"home","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/acs-exams\/","title":{"rendered":"Home"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>It&#8217;s here &#8211; the NEW Biochemistry Study Guide<\/h3>\n<p>We are excited to announce the newest addition to our study materials &#8211; the new biochemistry study guide!\u00a0 This 164-page guide walks you through problem-solving processes with practice questions that follow for you to refine and test your understanding.\u00a0 This guide also serves both single-semester and full-year courses as well as aligns to our Biochemistry ACS Exam.\u00a0 You can click <a href=\"https:\/\/acsexamsinstitute.com\/\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff\">here<\/span><\/a> to purchase a guide.<\/p>\n<h3>New tool for norm reduction &#8211; customize your exam for your needs<\/h3>\n<p>In response to requests from many of you to be able to generate norms for a reduced set of items for your ACS exam, we have developed a tool for this.\u00a0 Available for 25 general and organic chemistry exams, you can select your test, select which items to remove and observe the change to the norms.\u00a0 You also can upload your data for a downloadable file with your students&#8217; adjusted norms and course information.\u00a0 This site can be accessed <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/acs-exams\/norm-reduction-tool\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>New exams and norms released in 2025 and 2026:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Through the exhaustive work of our exam committees, we released recently:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>General-Organic-Biochemistry 2025 Condensed (stock code: GB25D)<\/em>\n<ul>\n<li>This is the newest version of the one-semester general-organic-biochemistry exam designed for nursing and health science majors.\u00a0 This 60-item exam has items distributed across the three disciplines based on a typical one-semester course.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><em>General Chemistry First-Term, 2025 (stock code: GC25F)<\/em>\n<ul>\n<li>This is the newest version of the first-semester general chemistry exam.\u00a0 When you submit answer sheets to us for scoring, <em>the score report available for this exam will also include partial credit scoring.\u00a0 <\/em>Users will have the option of using either score.\u00a0 Additionally, the exam will be released with\u00a0<strong><em>preliminary modeled norms.\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><em>Preparatory Chemistry, 2025 (stock code: PC25)<\/em>\n<ul>\n<li>This is a <strong>new<\/strong> exam for preparatory chemistry (prior to introductory chemistry).\u00a0 This 50-item exam is designed for a 60-minute testing period.\u00a0 It is expected that this exam will align to final exam testing needs for a preparatory chemistry course or as a placement exam for general chemistry I.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><em>Instrumental Analysis, 2025 (stock code: IA25)<\/em>\n<ul>\n<li>This is the newest version of the instrumental analysis exam.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We also are excited about our releases expected in 2026:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Toledo Placement Exam (stock code: TP26)<\/em>\n<ul>\n<li>We have made some changes to this test with new, more aligned coverage to expected needs for placement testing:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Part I<\/strong>: <em>Arithmetic and algebra<\/em> (20 items)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Part II<\/strong>: <em>Foundational chemistry knowledge<\/em> (20 items)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Part III<\/strong>: <em>Advanced chemistry knowledge<\/em> (20 items)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>This test will also have preliminary modeled norms available <strong>immediately<\/strong> with norms for:\n<ul>\n<li>Overall and<\/li>\n<li>Subnorming combinations of\n<ul>\n<li>Parts I &amp; II;<\/li>\n<li>Parts I &amp; III; and<\/li>\n<li>Parts II &amp; III.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Additionally all reports will include subscoring by part, content area and partial credit.\u00a0 This test will be available for use this spring.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/acs-exams\/instructors\/exam-statistics\/national-norms\/\"><strong>Several new norms have been published in 2026 already<\/strong><\/a>. These include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>General Chemistry 2021<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>General Chemistry 2022 Second Term<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We expect to complete additional norms following the spring testing season with new or updated preliminary norms available throughout 2026 as well.<\/p>\n<p><em>Please consider providing student performance data to us for norm calculations!<\/em><\/p>\n<h5><\/h5>\n<h4>Study materials available from ACS Exams<\/h4>\n<p>If you are preparing to take an ACS final exam, there are resources available from <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/acs-exams\/students\/student-study-materials\/\">ACS Exams<\/a> that may help you in your studying and preparation:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>General chemistry: study guide (first term\/second term both included) and practice exams (first term, second term and full year)<\/li>\n<li>Organic chemistry: study guide (first term\/second term both included) and practice exams (first term, second term and full year)<\/li>\n<li>Analytical chemistry: practice exam<\/li>\n<li>Biochemistry: study guide (set up for single-semester and full-year courses)<\/li>\n<li>Physical chemistry: study guide (both thermodynamics and quantum chemistry are included)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>ACS Exams study materials are available year-round with study guides shipped directly to your home or campus and online practice exams available immediately after purchase.
